Eating in Salida

There are so many great things going on every night in the town of Salida. We recently had a girls night out and here were some of the highlights

Going out in Salida

When my girlfriends and I decided to take a weekend trip to Salida, we knew we’d be in for some outdoor adventures, but what we didn’t realize was just how much amazing food the town had to offer! From breakfast to dinner, Salida’s restaurant scene is packed with delicious options. Whether you're looking for a cozy café to start your day or a fun spot to grab dinner and drinks, this little mountain town has it all. Here’s a rundown of our favorite spots.

The breakfast gems

We kicked off our mornings with some seriously good breakfast. Our first stop was Café Dawn, a charming little spot that’s perfect for getting that first cup of coffee. They brew local, organic beans, and their breakfast sandwiches were the perfect fuel for a day of exploring. It’s got a laid-back vibe and is popular with both locals and visitors.

Another standout was Mo Burrito, which, as you might guess, makes an amazing breakfast burrito. It’s quick, filling, and delicious, with the perfect mix of eggs, potatoes, cheese, and green chili—just what we needed before heading out for a day of hiking and shopping. Plus, you can take it to-go, so it’s super convenient.

For something a little different, we tried Sweetie’s Bakery and Deli, and let me tell you, their homemade pastries are worth the trip alone. We grabbed some fresh croissants and a fruit tart (no regrets) and ate them outside while soaking in the mountain views.

Dinner spots

For dinner, we decided to explore some of the local favorites. The Fritz was a major hit with all of us. This place is known for its small plates, so we ordered a bunch of dishes to share. The truffle fries and crispy Brussels sprouts were to die for, and their craft cocktails were on point. It’s got a fun, intimate vibe that was perfect for our group to catch up over a relaxed meal.

Another dinner spot that we absolutely loved was Currents Steak and Seafood. It’s a bit more upscale, with great options for those who love seafood or a good steak. The atmosphere was cozy, with a nice mountain-town twist, and the food was top-notch. The trout was a standout, and their wine list is pretty impressive too.

Night life - Music and good vibes

After dinner, we wanted to check out the local nightlife, and Salida definitely doesn’t disappoint. The Victoria Tavern just reopened, and it’s quickly becoming the place to go for live music. The space has an old-school charm with a fresh new energy, and they’re bringing in local bands that keep the crowd moving all night. We danced, we laughed, and we soaked up the fun atmosphere.

If you’re into a more laid-back scene with great craft beer, we also stopped by Soulcraft Brewing. It’s got a fun, chill vibe, with live music on weekends and a huge outdoor patio. Plus, their beer selection is incredible—perfect for winding down with friends and enjoying a Colorado evening.

For something with a bit more of a classic bar feel, we headed over to Wood’s Distillery. They make their own spirits, and their cocktails are hands down some of the best we’ve had. The bartender even whipped up a custom drink for our group, which was a fun little surprise. It’s the perfect spot if you’re looking to enjoy some unique drinks and maybe hear a local musician playing in the background.

Where we stayed

For our girlfriend getaway, we stayed at Tata River Cabins, and it was everything we could have hoped for—comfortable, charming, and tucked away in nature. We booked Cabin 3 & 4, which is a spacious duplex cabin that sleeps up to eight people, making it perfect for our group. Each side of the cabin has two full-size beds, a private bathroom, and a cozy kitchen. The décor is mountain chic, with colors that reflect the beautiful surroundings and unique artwork that adds to the cabin’s charm.

Located along the banks of the Arkansas River, the property is a peaceful escape. Instead of TVs, we spent our downtime relaxing on the porch, listening to the sounds of the river, and enjoying the warm Colorado sunshine. There’s even bocce ball and horseshoes on the property if you want to have some fun outside.

The cabins are also just 10 minutes from Salida, so we could easily get into town for breakfast, dinner, or some nightlife. After a full day of eating, exploring, and catching up, coming back to Cabin 3 & 4 was the perfect way to unwind. If you're looking for a place that feels like a true getaway, Tata River Cabins is it. Whether you're adventuring all day or simply relaxing by the river, this is the ideal base for a girls' trip.
